Rosella Loomis of Caro, age 98, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro. Rosella was born June 8, 1921, the oldest of 12 children born to Glen and Minnie (Kelly) Rathburn. She was united in marriage with Ray Loomis on February 20, 1941, in Snover, and the couple celebrated 75 years of marriage prior to Ray’s death on December 19, 2016. Rosella was employed with the Tuscola County Medical Care Community for over 25 years, first in the laundry, then as a caregiver, and finally as an activities coordinator, retiring in 1979. Rosella was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church and wintered in Ruskin, Florida for over 35 years. She was an avid hunter in her earlier years, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, ceramics, and spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are three children and their spouses: Leona and Doug Fritz of Caro, Elaine and Doug Inglis of Clairmont, Florida, Larry and Janet Loomis of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Teresa Frederick, Wanda McCurmack, Bernice Keith; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Rosella was preceded in death by one grandson, Dennis Keilitz; two great-great-granddaughters: Genervere Love Joy, Izora McCoon; siblings: Harold Rathburn, Eldon Rathburn, Evelyn Marks, Russell Rathburn, Aleen Neff, Doris Rathburn, Wilma Graham, and Betty Cole.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Beverly LaJoie officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tuscola County Medical Care Community or the Forget-Me-Nots.
