Garry L. Cox, Sr. of Caro, age 67, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Garry was born February 15, 1952, in Caro, the son of the late Leonard and Helen (Bland) Cox. He was united in marriage with the former Cathy Taylor, and she survives him. Garry worked for ten years at Vandemark’s Service Station in Caro as a bus and truck mechanic before taking a position with Thumb Electric as the plant operator and mechanic. He retired due to a medical disability in 2002, but continued to pursue his varied interests. Garry enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing piano, and spending time at the family cabin. He will be remembered as a man who could build or fix practically anything and loved time spent on his tractors. He was also a life member of the Caro Moose Lodge.
Garry is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Cox of Caro; two children: Garry L. Cox, Jr. of St. Johns, Rick Cox and his wife, Tracylynn, of Caro; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Becky Clinesmith and her husband, Deavare; special nephew, Michael Kish; and his dogs, Snowy and Fluffy. In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by an infant son, Rodney Cox; siblings, Dennis Cox and Sandra Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, August 16, 2019, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. Private burial services will take place at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
