Laurene Dicks of Caro, age 63, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Laurene was born December 22, 1955 in Marlette, the daughter of the late John and Shirley (Wood) Killinger. She was raised in Caro where she attended high school. Laurene was united in marriage with David Dicks on January 20, 1973 in Caro and the couple has celebrated forty-six years together. She worked for a brief time at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility before leaving to focus her attention and energy on her young family. Laurene was naturally artistic and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, drawing, and decorating for the holidays. No one that came to her home ever left hungry, and often left with more food than they could handle. She enjoyed baking and cooking, especially for others. She had an abiding care for friends and neighbors and will be remembered as a mom to many. Laurene, who loved to dance, was always the life of the party. She was known as the practical joker of the family and looked forward to April Fool’s Day every year. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, especially her granddaughter.

Laurene is survived by her loving husband, David; two sons, Kevin Dicks and his wife, Andrea, of Caro, Sean Dicks of Caro; granddaughter, Madison Dicks of Caro; one brother, Richard Killinger; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Laurene was preceded in death by her firstborn son, Jason; three siblings, Deborah Pinkoski, Cindy May Warren, and David Killinger.
