Leon Lyle Hatt of Chesaning formerly of Caro, age 77, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chesaning. Leon was born August 23, 1941 in Flint, the son of the late Leon and Elaine (Kerns) Hatt. He had been employed with General Motors as a press operator, retiring in 1993.  During his retirement, Leon enjoyed walking, especially with his dog, Esther; sometimes walking as many as fifteen miles in a day.  He also loved going to the Dollar Store where he could buy gifts for others, especially those who were hospitalized.  Leon enjoyed being around people and was a member of the Montrose Family Worship Center where he served as a handy-man.

Leon is survived by three children; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister. Dawne Diane Coles; and one brother, Wendell Warren Hatt.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Montrose Family Worship Center, 9453 West Vienna road, Montrose, MI 48457 with Pastor Bob Leming officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be at Cook Cemetery in Burt at 1:30 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Montrose Family Worship Center in memory of Leon.
