John Borek Jr, age 88, of Clifford, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Marlette Regional Hospital Long term Care Unit surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 30, 1930, in Detroit, to the late John Sr. and Stella Kowalski Borek. John was a graduate from Kingston High School Class of 1947. He married Trellis Freeman August 23, 1952, in Wilmot, and she preceded him in death April 25, 1977. John married Joan Ihrke April 28, 1979, in Kingston, she preceded him in death August 11, 2012. He was a car carrier driver and a lifelong farmer. John loved deer hunting, fishing, traveling and sharing good times with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. He was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Wilmot, past member of Farm Bureau Board and Kingston Community School Board.
John is survived by seven children: John (Linda Lou) Borek of Clio, James (Linda) Borek of Kingston, Richard Borek of Kingston, Linda (Alan) Jobson of Kingston, Ronald (Jill) Borek of Kingston, Arlene (Jim) Smith of Silverwood, Diane (Brian) Schneider of Tavares, Florida; sister, Virginia Krawczyk of Byron Center; 15 grandchildren: John B. Borek, Steven Borek, Bryan (Amanda) Borek, Matthew Borek, Michelle (Brad) Stine, Adam (Harmony) Borek, Jennifer (Eric) Ross, Garrett (Jill Stoick) Borek, Crystal (Dan) Price, Frank (Kayla) Smith, Chad (Sara) Jobson, Craig (Tami Heatly) Smith, Ashley (Chris) Fetter, Nicole (Ethan) Buetow and BreAnne (Jordan) Travieso; 25 great-grandchildren: Brayden, Kloee, Courtney, Alice, Clayton, Aubrey, Gretchen, Gage, Isabelle, Christian, Carter, soon to arrive Colton, Blakelinn, Xavier, Kayden, Addisyn, Payton, Kendall, Taylor, Tyler, Everett, Sophie, Asher, Raelyn and Ada; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
The Family received visitors on Friday, April 19, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. at Avram Funeral Home, 6028 Lincoln St., Mayville, and Saturday, April 20, 2019, from 10-11 a.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Avram Funeral Home with Father Jerzy officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Wilmot, on Monday.
