Genevieve DeCoster, age 94, a lifelong resident of Fairgrove, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at McLaren Bay Region in Bay City. Genevieve was born March 29, 1924, in Fairgrove, the daughter of William and Celia (Franckowiak) Dinsmoore. She and Nicholas DeCoster were united in marriage on March 16, 1945, in Gilford. In her free time, Genevieve enjoyed gardening, baking, cooking, and working on the farm. She enjoyed going for car rides and looking at crops. Genevieve was a wonderful cook and baker and was well known for her pork chops, baked beans, and pie recipes. She also enjoyed traveling and had fond memories of trips up north, Colorado, and Florida.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Sidney (Diane) DeCoster, Agnes (Michael) Krause, Denise (Robert) Stockmeyer, and Donna (Wallace) Hauswald; nine grandchildren: Roger (Carmita) DeCoster, Michelle (Edgar) Rubalcaba, Dirk (Debbi) DeCoster, Janelle (Omar) Castillo, Jacob (Meagan) Stockmeyer, Lucas (Amanda) Stockmeyer, Chelsea Stockmeyer, Justine Stockmeyer, and Luc Hauswald; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Stanley (Evelyn) Dinsmoore; and special friends Maxine Vagaski and Dorothy Findlay.
She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas DeCoster; parents; and siblings: Kenneth, Harvey, and Lester Dinsmoore.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Wisner United Methodist Church in Wisner Twp. Pastor Evan Oh officiated with burial in Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. The family received friends Monday, at Martin Funeral Home in Fairgrove from 3-7 p.m. On Tuesday, Genevieve’s family received friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Wisner United Methodist Church.
