Robert Allan Smith of Millington, age 75, passed away on Thursday,
December 15, 2016 at Stonegate Health Care of Lapeer with his family
by his side.
Funeral Services well be held at the Mayville United Methodist Church
on Tuesday, December 20 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Carole Brown
officiating. Visitation will be at the Avram Funeral Home on Monday,
December 19, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 10 a.m. until time of
service at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Mayville
United Methodist Church or McLaren Hospice.
Interment will be at the Watertown Township Cemetery with Military
Honors conducted by the Mayville American Legion Post #181 and the
Mayville/Vassar VFW Post 10884.
Robert was born August 3, 1941 in Willmar, Minnesota to the late Fred
and Ruth (Fanberg) Smith. Robert graduated from Kerkhoven High School,
Kerkhoven, Minnesota. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United
States Army and served during the Vietnam era 1959–1962. He married
Patricia Leix on April 21,1962 at the Millington United Methodist
Church. Robert was the owner/operator of R.A. Smith Trucking.
Robert was a member of Monday Night Men’s Bowling league. He loved
playing soft ball, motorcycling and traveling with Pat in their motor
home. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter
Q2 of MI.
Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years Patricia; one sister,
Beverly Ann Palmquist of Stanton, Iowa; and one brother, Elvin (June)
Smith of Clarissa Minnesota.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Ralph Palmquist.
