Mark A. Perez, Sr. of Caro, age 82, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at Covenant Health Care – Cooper in Saginaw. Mark was born Sept. 24, 1934 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of the late Antonio and Margarite (Sostita) Perez. He enlisted in the United States Army and later served in the National Guard. Mark was united in marriage with the former Beverly Joan Cross on June 30, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro, and she preceded him in death on Apr. 13, 2016. His career spanned 30 years with Saginaw Steering Gear as a machine operator, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, Mark served 20 years as a bus driver for Caro Community Schools and 25 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Caro Fire Department. He was happiest outdoors, and loved camping, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed woodworking and making sure that his vehicles were spotless.
Mark is survived by five children and their spouses, Mark A. Perez, Jr., Patricia M. and Randy Martin, Matthew W. and Marsha Perez, Christopher A. Perez, Sr., Beverly and Jerry Crandall; 18 grandchildren and their spouses, Amber J. Davis, Nathan A. Perez, Shannon and Patrick Leskowski, Jillian Perez, Joshua and Erinelizabeth Gould, Rikki and Curtis Butterfield, Noah Martin, Ashley Vanhuylenbrouck, Matthew W. Jr. and Davidetta Perez, Angela R. and Mike Soltis, Gabriel F. Perez, Roselyn Perez, Aaron and Kelsey Perez, Amanda Perez, Jerry A. Crandall II, Stacy L. and Don Doyle, Katelynn J. Crandall, Christopher A. Perez; 36 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Charles and Nancy Perez, Margaret Sterner, David Perez and Mary Lou Light; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mark was preceded in death by seven siblings, Joseph Perez, Aaron Perez, Alex Perez, Priscilla Robinson, Ralph Perez, Oscar Perez and Richard Perez.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at St. Christopher Parish, Sacred Heart site with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating.
