CARO — Caro Pizza Hut has teamed up with the Caro Fire Department to offer the area’s little trick-or-treaters a little extra treat and to stress the importance of safety on Halloween.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Caro Fire Department,  glow sticks will be handed out to keep area kids safe at night and also trick-or-treat bags will be provided by the Caro Pizza Hut.

“We would like the kids to have the glow sticks on their wrist when they go out that night,” said Louise Hodges, Caro firefighter and manager of the Caro Pizza Hut.

Hodges said Caro Fire Department captain Mike Kennedy headed up the event, contacting other area fire departments who will also be giving away glow sticks that night. Money for the glow sticks was provided by donations from area firefighters.

Once trick-or-treat time begins, kids are invited back to the fire hall where the firefighters will be handing out candy.
