Mayville millage renewal passes

MAYVILLE — An operating millage renewal has passed for Mayville Schools. The unofficial count is 755 – 254.
This is the same millage that voters approved back in 1994, meaning there will be no cost to homeowners. This vote allows the district to continue to collect the same 18 mills on non-homestead property such as apartment buildings, rental homes, vacation properties, and commercial/industrial properties.
The proposal is for 4 years and allows the school district to continue to levy the statutory rate on all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, required for the school district to receive its revenue per pupil foundation allowance.
If this millage had not passed, the district would have lost approximately $633,000 of funding for next school year.
