Tuscola County Recycling Facility would like to thank all of the participants, volunteers and staff for another successful household hazardous waste collection. This event was held to keep hazardous waste from entering the waste stream or contaminating soil or water. With more than 50 participants bringing in unwanted hazardous wastes, a large amount of product was collected and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.
This collection brought in 2,041 lbs. of pesticides and herbicides, 25 lbs. of mercury, 313 lbs. of household batteries, 1,341 lbs. of oil-based paints and 560 lbs. of miscellaneous hazardous wastes.
These collections are held free of charge to households in Tuscola County. Tuscola County Recycle Center has a year-round collection of mercury, pesticides and herbicides available free to Tuscola County residents.
