Child killed in combine accident

JUNIATA TOWNSHIP — A local farming family is grieving the loss of child, tragically killed in a farming accident near Handy Road and M-81 on Friday.
The child, three-year-old Reid Crosby, was riding in the cab of a John Deere combine with his father, Lee Crosby, when the large front windshield broke out. The child, who had been leaning on the window, fell forward and was run over.
Detectives from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office investigated and pronounced the child deceased at the scene. The tragic incident was ruled an accidental death by the officers.
“There are no words to ease the pain, but our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” said Tuscola County Undersheriff Glen Skrent.
Neighbors of the family said they were shocked to hear of the tragedy.
“They’re just a really nice family. It’s terrible,” said neighbor William Sweet, adding that his son had helped the Crosby family on their farm in the past.
Mobile Medical Response responded, along with the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office.
