Thornton “Tub” Buhl

Thornton “Tub” Buhl, age 80, of Mayville, MI passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Fisher Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mayville, MI.
He was born June 29, 1939 in Pontiac, MI, son of Frank Buhl and Leota (Thornton) Ihrke. Tub married Maxine Brown at his sister’s home on June 12, 1976 and they were married for 43 years. He retired from Tuscola Intermediate School in 1995. Tub was famous for opening and owning Buhl’s Country Archery Shop in 1986. He was an avid hunter and BS’er. As a member of Mayville Eagles #4099 he loved nothing more than joking and causing chaos with all of the other members.
Tub is survived by his wife, Maxine Buhl; children, Rodney Buhl, Robert (Kathy) Buhl, Connie Gohs, Frank (Brenda) Buhl, Donald (Rhonda) Buhl-Brown, Gordy (Holly) Buhl-Brown, Diane (Mark) Lieber, and Alyssa Buhl; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; brother, Darwin (Doris) Buhl; sister, Vali Donna Garzzero; many nieces and nephews; and close friends and hunting buddies, Ham and Eric.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Scott and Bradley Buhl; great grandson, Tyler Wirth, parents, Frank and Leota; sister’s, Raye Lynn Bush, Doris Wood and Georgiana Buckley.
The family will receive visitors from 2 – 8 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 and 10 a.m. until time of the service on Friday at Avram Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 14, 2020 at Avram Funeral Home 6028 Lincoln St., Mayville, MI. Memorial Contributions may be made to Mayville Eagles #4099 Cancer Fund.
