Charles “Junior” Cosens of Akron, age 96, our hardworking and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at New Hope Bay on the evening of Sunday, December 1, 2019. Junior was born on July 31, 1923, in Akron, the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Strevel) Cosens, Sr. Junior graduated from high school and went on to work and later own the family farm. It was at church where Junior met the love of his life, the former Pauline Bell. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on June 17, 1944. Together they shared 63 years, three children, and countless memories. Sadly, Pauline predeceased Junior on July 28, 2007. Junior was an active and dedicated member of Wisner United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting. Junior will forever be remembered for having the prettiest fields in the county – often at the expense of having the kids pull all the weeds.
Junior will be missed dearly, but lovingly remembered for generations to come. Junior leaves to carry on his legacy, his children: Gerald (Suzanne) Cosens, Marcia (Gerald) Letson, and Mark (Nancy) Cosens; grandchildren: Jamie (Dave) McCartney, Angie (Adam) Shue, Bambi (Gerald) Niedzielski, Alan Cosens, Charlie Cosens, Christopher Cosens, and Randy (Amy) Rodriguez; great-grandchildren: Davey, Britnee, Jeremiah, Amanuel, Emily, Aaron, and Robin; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Junior was welcomed home to heaven by his six brothers and sisters.
Junior’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, December 6, 2019, from 3-8 p.m. at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd., Hampton Twp. On Saturday, December 7, 2019, Junior will be taken to Wisner United Methodist Church, 5375 N. Vassar Rd., Akron, where visiting will continue from 10 a.m. until the time of his 11 a.m. funeral ceremony. Reverend Evan Oh will officiate with interment in Wisner Twp. Cemetery.
