Karen Ann Haines of Reese, age 55, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in Frankenmuth. She was born April 17, 1964, in Saginaw, daughter of Carl and Leona (Kischnick) Bauer of Reese and was a 1982 graduate of Reese High School. On September 1, 1984, she was married to Thomas A. Haines in Richville. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2007. Karen was employed at Bronner’s in Frankenmuth, and then left to start her family. Afterwards, she was employed at Reese High School and then decided to return to work at Bronner’s as a Shipping Clerk and Team Leader for many years. Karen was a member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. She enjoyed playing cards, listening and dancing to polka music, spending Sunday evenings at the Trackside Restaurant in Reese, and relaxing outdoors. Her most enjoyable time of all was spending time with her family.
Surviving are her parents, Carl and Leona Bauer of Reese, and her three daughters: Trisha Haines and her fiancé, Matthew Vasicek, Laurie Daenzer and her husband Clinton, and Jennifer Haines; grandson, Collin Daenzer; brother, Danny Bauer and his wife Theresa, sister, Sue Spiekerman and her husband Ron “Buzz” Spiekerman; mother-in-law, Elaine Haines; brothers-in-law: Robert (Connie) Haines and Jerry Haines; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Karen was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Merton Haines.
Funeral services for Karen were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Reverend Wesley Gillaspie and Reverend Rob Gadeken both officiated with committal in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Michael’s Lutheran Church or to her daughters in care of her daughter, Trisha.
