William P. Dillon, Jr. of Caro, age 77, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. Bill was born May 23, 1942 in Detroit, the son of the late William Patrick and Rosemary (Hyde) Dillon. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1961 and continued his studies at Delta College. Bill was united in marriage with the former Juliana Kish on October 5, 1963 from the original Sacred Heart Church in Caro, and she preceded him in death on October 22, 2015. He spent thirty years with the State of Michigan, first at the Caro Regional Center for a brief time as an attendant, and later with Liquor Control Commission as a manager of the Sandusky and Caro stores, retiring at fifty years old in 1992. Bill was a member of St. Christopher Parish in Caro, a 3rd Degree Member of the Caro Knights of Columbus Council 3224, member of Caro Moose Lodge 1049, and lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited. He also served on several boards, including the Tuscola County Meet of Champions, Caro Transit Authority, and Indianfields Township Planning Commission. To Bill, family was everything. Known by many in the family as “Honey Bill,” he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, vacationing, camping, fishing, hunting, or just telling stories in true Bill Dillon fashion. He had an unmatched talent in woodcarving, especially ducks, that became his passion project and business, “Ducks by Dillon.”  His absence leaves an unfillable void among family and friends. His quick wit, kindness, and selflessness will be deeply missed.

Bill is survived by three children and their spouses, Michael Dillon & Lisa Blanton of Essexville, Susan & Scott Bates of Caro, Timothy & Patty Dillon of Traverse City; former daughter-in-law, Judy Dillon of Caro; four grandchildren, Jesse Dillon Southworth, Justin Dillon Majewski, Hannah Dillon, Nathan Dillon; one brother, Thomas Dillon and his wife, Roxanna, of Caro; several nieces and nephews; and countless special friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. Christopher Parish in Caro with Rev. Jerzy Dobosz officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
