Robert W. Westerby of Kingston, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Community in Caro, following an extended illness and surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born July 30, 1940, in Cass City, the son of the late Peter and Eva (Drehmer) Westerby and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was united in marriage with the former Judy Hodges on May 2, 1964, at the Sutton Sunshine Methodist Church in Caro, and she survives. Bob enjoyed farming and was a machine operator at Saginaw Steering Gear retiring in 1995 after 31 years of employment. He loved watching the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR’s #24, Jeff Gordon, being a vendor at flea markets, Carolyn’s monkey bread, apple pie, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren and his dog, Lizzy.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Westerby of Kingston; four children: Christine Jones and Randy Izydorek of Caro, Carolyn Westerby of Cass City, Connie and Darren Ross of Unionville, Michael and Bobbi Sue Westerby of Kingston; nine grandchildren: Alyssa (Steve), Adam, Eric, Braden, Kylie, Colton, Sawyer, Hunter and Willow; two great-grandchildren: Jack and Brooke; one sister, Myrtle Sinclair of Vassar; mother-in-law, Jean Donaldson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one half-sister, Cora Parrott.  

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, September 9, 2019, at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. David Wilczynski officiating. Military honors will follow under the auspices of the Caro American Legion Post #7 and the U.S. Army. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. and on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Westerby will be Adam Jones, Eric Churchill, Braden Jones, Michael Westerby, Darren Ross, Randy Izydorek and Steve Lipe.
