Mary Louise Harp of Silverwood, age 70, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019, at the University of Michigan Hospital. Born in Detroit on August 11, 1949, Mary was daughter to Paul Kirchner and Evelyn Livingston, and later step-daughter to Marge Kirchner. She graduated from Ladywood High School in Livonia in 1967, and married John George Harp in 1975. Shortly after, they moved into their home in Silverwood where they raised their four children.
Mary worked in elementary education for the Kingston School District until her retirement in 2016. Mary loved reading and crafting, and was an enthusiastic supporter of University of Michigan sports. She enjoyed traveling, and in recent years visited Mexico, London, Greece and China. More than anything, however, Mary loved spending time with her family and her many grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, John; her children: Chris (Kate) Harp, Carrie Harp, Colleen (Christopher) Calimano, Courtney (Leo) Guerrero; seven sisters and brothers; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial and celebration of Mary’s life will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at 3901 English Road, Kingston.
