John Richard Pitcher of Unionville, formerly of Eastpointe, age 93, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019, at his home. John was born December 10, 1925, in Bay Port, to George and Victoria (nee Whitman) Pitcher. He married Victoria Kwiatkowski, in Toledo, Ohio, January 4, 1957. She preceded him in death in 1999. John lived in Eastpointe for 30 years before moving to and living in Unionville for 20 years. John spent 22 years in the Marine Corp. as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was a POW and was a Purple Heart Recipient for the battle in Iwo Jima. He was a member of the VFW Post in Eastpointe, the TTCC (Thumb 2 Cylinder Club), and collected antique John Deere Tractors.

John is survived by his children: Christine (Mike Venet) Finkbeiner, Jaquline Pitcher, Larry (Diane) Pitcher, Jude (Cindy) Pitcher and Maureen (John Livernois) Beleck; eight grandchildren: Michele Megie, Valerie Gallo, Mark Pitcher, Bradley Pitcher, Devin Pitcher, Cory Pitcher, Couryn Beleck and Olivia Beleck; and one great-grandchild, Tori Daros.

John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Victoria; and all his siblings.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-9 p.m. and Friday, August 9, 2019, at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home in St. Clair Shores, from 5-9 p.m. Burial will be Saturday, at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township at 11 a.m. with military honors.

Memorial donations may be given to Heartland Hospice.
