Carol Brinkman of Caro, age 78, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Timberline Lodge in Caro. Carol was born February 5, 1941 in Caro, the daughter of the late Cloris and Joyce (Bradley) Robinson and graduated from Caro High School with the Class of 1959. She was united in marriage with Wayne Brinkman shortly after on August 15, 1959 in Caro and the couple celebrated more than fifty-eight years together before his death on August 5, 2018. Carol’s first position was with General Cable in Cass City and later worked for Engineered Tool Corporation in Caro. She was an active member of Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Carol’s greatest joy came from being a grandmother and her macaroni and cheese will be sorely missed. She was always taking care of others and served as the family chef on the farm and at tractor pulls. In her earlier years, Carol enjoyed hunting and fishing, and continued to love watching NASCAR and baseball.
Left to cherish her memory are two children and their spouses, Jeff & Kim Brinkman of Caro, Lori & Joe Samuelson of Salt Lick, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren with another expected shortly; one sister and spouse, Joy & Gordy Knowles of Caro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a daughter, Cari Sue Neumayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Caro United Methodist Church with Pastor Penny Parkin officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Almer Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church, the National Parkinson Foundation, or the donor’s favorite charity.
