Cecilia Ann Palmer of Vassar, age 83, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 23, 2019, at St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw. She was born in Reese on January 26, 1936, the daughter of the late Alfred and Agnes (Light) Kunz. On August 14, 1954, Cecilia was united in marriage to Dick Palmer at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. She and her husband Dick have been lifelong members of St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church where Cecilia was the church organist for more than 40 years. Cecilia was also a talented singer and musician, playing the bass guitar; together with her husband, they played at many clubs, church functions, weddings and parties. She was employed as a secretary at Rummel Insurance in Vassar for 18 years.

Surviving family include her husband of 64 years, Dick; children: Peggy (Russ) Fall, Philip (Kim) Palmer, Robert (Debbie) Palmer, Alfred Palmer, Richard (Lou Ann) Palmer and Teresa (David); 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cecilia was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Heidt.

The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church, 334 Division St., Vassar. The Rev. James Wm. Bessert presiding with private committal at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 2-8 p.m. at the Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar. Cecilia will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic Church or the Bullard Sanford Memorial Library.
