Wrestling roundup: Caro still unbeaten in GTC


Caro’s wrestling team improved to 7-0 in the Greater Thumb Conference with a 65-18 win over Ubly and a 51-18 win over host Vassar at a league quad on Wednesday.

Going 2-0 for the Tigers were Adam Fisch (103 pounds), Bryan Sherd (112), Keggan Miller (119), Marcus Enos (125), Ty Inches (135), Tom Waggoner (140), John Botkins (145) and D.J. Daniels (160). Blake Sizemore went 1-0 at 171 to round out Caro’s efforts.

Vassar ended the day at 0-2, losing its other match 48-36 to Capac.

Zach Goss, Max Kukulski and Colton Huizar each went 2-0 to lead the Vulcans. Ethan Dunham, Marshal Wolpert and Ian Sutherland went 1-1.

Wednesday’s results

Marlette quad: Mayville beat Sandusky 36-22, but lost to Memphis 42-31 in Greater Thumb Conference duals.

Finishing 2-0 for the Wildcats (11-9, 6-2 GTC) were Jerry Gilbert, Steven Jackson, Trent Birmingham and Logan LaBean. Going 1-1 for Mayville were Madyson McDonald, Abigail Gonzales, Tyler Petriches and Zakkary Romanowski, while Peter Morden went 1-0.

Bad Axe quad: Cass City earned a 60-24 Greater Thumb win over Brown City and a 48-31 GTC win over host Bad Axe.

Double-winners for the Red Hawks were Hunter Caister (189 pounds), Alie Kalokoh (119), Drew Markel (125/130), Hayden Larkin (135/140), Race Woloshen (145) and Ryan Pisarek (152).
