Denmark Twp. stolen truck found 75 miles away

Police have recovered a Ford pickup truck stolen Jan. 3 from Tuscola County’s Denmark Township, but the whereabouts of the suspected thief – prison parolee Joshua M. Rosebush – remains unclear.

“As far as I know Rosebush hasn’t been located yet,” Tuscola County Undersheriff Robert Baxter stated Friday morning in an email to The Advertiser.

The truck stolen in Denmark Township was found about 75 miles away in Farwell, and a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was stolen “just down the road” from the Farwell location, according to Baxter.

Farwell is about five miles west of Clare, a city in Clare County. Police didn’t state when they located the stolen Ford truck, taken Jan. 3 from a residence along Bradleyville Road, according to Nick Dey, who said he owns the black Ford F-150.

The Suburban later stolen in Farwell was recovered in Flint, however, and a Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office detective learned of the Flint connection on Wednesday, stated Baxter.

The Ford pickup stolen along Bradleyville Road was about one mile from where another stolen pickup truck – a Dodge taken earlier Jan. 3 from the city of Vassar – crashed in a ditch early that morning near the corner of Garner and Wilder roads.

Before the thefts of the trucks in Vassar and Denmark Township, Rosebush, 29, had been living in Vassar, according to Vassar Police Chief Ben Guile, who suspects Rosebush broke into multiple vehicles Jan. 3 and then stole the Dodge truck that crashed later that day.

Rosebush has been convicted of 13 felonies in Michigan according to state records, and was sentenced most recently in 2016 in Tuscola County for assaulting or obstructing a public officer, and for two counts of stealing or retaining a financial transaction device without consent.

At some point, Guile said, Rosebush removed an electronic tether used to monitor him, leaving it outside the residence where he lived in Vassar.

“He cut it off and threw it in the front yard there,” Guile said.
