Emilie Ruth Ostrander, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2018, at Marlette United Hospice in Marlette.
Emilie was born in Tawas, daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Herman) Adelsburg. She was married to the late Walter Ostrander, Sr. who preceded her in death. Together they raised four children in their family home in Millington. Emilie loved painting, knitting, bicycling and took great pride in maintaining her yard. She dedicated many years of service to the American Legion Auxiliary and was a faithful member of the Millington Baptist Church. She retired from Millington Screw Products after 30 years of service.
Emilie is survived by three daughters: Susanne (Frederic) Seyfarth of North Carolina, Judith (Daniel) Kowitz of Millington, Debra (Paul) Barbe of Quebec, Canada; one son, Walter, Jr. (Deb) Ostrander of Millington; ten grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; Rose Setula of Rhodes, Martha (Lester) McGuthrie of Illinois; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by four brothers: Carl, Ted, Frank, and Albert Aldesburg; and one sister, Emma Nichols.
In keeping with Emilie’s wishes, cremation will be handled by Jansen Family Funeral Home in Columbiaville and a private celebration of her life will be held at a later date for the immediate family. The family wishes to thank Sitting Angels (Lapeer) and Marlette United Hospice (Marlette) for their tender, compassionate care.
