Francis Xavier Pliska of Caro, formerly of Mayville, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018, at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
Frank was born August 7, 1931, in Oconto, Wisconsin, to the late Frank and Lillian (Donlevy) Pliska. He served his country as a first Lieutenant in the United States Army. Frank married Connie Sugden on June 12, 1971, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayville where they were members. He was the choir director at the church for 30+ years. Frank retired from Mayville Public School after 30 years as the band director and nine years as a teacher. He continued to work as a lay minister and chaplain at the Seton Center in Marlette. Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife and he loved music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie and one niece, Christine Edelbrock.
Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Caroline Simon.
The Family will receive visitors from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Avram Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Rosary Service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Avram funeral home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 315 Ohmer Rd., Mayville, MI 48744 with Father Jerzy Dobosz officiating.
Burial will follow in Rich Township Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Mayville VFW Post #10884 and the Mayville American Legion Post #181.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Pliska Scholarship Fund at Mayville Public School.
