Robert C. Fox of Caro, age 83, was called home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at United Hospice Service in Marlette. Bob was born March 29, 1935 in Caro, the son of the late Henry and Mildred (Burgess) Fox. Bob was a Caro High School graduate and served in the United States Navy. He married the former Lavonna “Bonnie” Hutchins on July 14, 1982 in Tennessee Colony, Texas, and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2016. With short stints in other occupations, he committed his working career to criminal justice. He was employed as a deputy sheriff with the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department and later as a corrections officer with both the Texas Department of Corrections and the Michigan Department of Corrections at Camp Tuscola. Bob enjoyed camping, cooking, and reading.
He is survived by two daughters and their spouses: Nadeen and Jim Wolford and Elizabeth and Geir Hunsbedt, all of Caro; grandsons: Patrick J. Fox of North Aurora, Illinois, Andrew Hunsbedt of Caro, and Alex Wolford of Caro; step-children: Bill, Cheri, Sue, Deb and Tim, along with their children and grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert J. Fox; and his siblings: Edward Fox, Clarabelle Barber, Gertrude Middaugh, Joan Walters, Paul Fox and Carl Fox.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital.
