Margaret Lorna Walter of Caro, formerly of Saginaw, age 104, died Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018 at her residence. She was born November 3, 1913 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Hoerauf) Nuechterlein. She was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw. On August 8, 1936, she was married to Ralph Walter. He predeceased her October 10, 1994. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Secord Lake. She enjoyed fishing on the lake, playing cards, working in the garden and watching Detroit Tigers baseball. Margaret was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro and was a former member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Saginaw.
Surviving are her two sons: Louis Walter and wife Betty of Reese and James and Cherie Walter of Caro; one sister, Irene Matzke of El Paso, Texas; and sister-in-law, Barbara Nuechterlein of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren and seven great-children. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by three brothers: Henry, Ralph and Robert Nuechterlein; four sisters: Elsie Nuechterlein, Glady Yeager, Marion Eurich and Ruth Kluck; and brother-in-law, Edward Kluck.
Funeral Services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese. Pastor Cameron Steele of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro officiated. Burial took place on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Saginaw.
