Myron D. Gainforth (Popeye) of Unionville, age 81, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017, at his home.
Myron was born February 13, 1936, in Unionville, to the late Emery and Erma (Haskill) Gainforth. After high school, he was drafted into and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. On December 7, 1957, he married Maxine Krull at St. Peters Lutheran Church (Columbia Corners). He worked for 30 years at GM Powertrain. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, USA Patriot sporting events, camping and playing cards.
Myron is survived by his wife, Maxine; children: Kelly (Bob) Linzner, Kim (Margaret) Gainforth, Kevin (Beth) Gainforth, Kurt (Anne) Gainforth and Kristen (Troy) Fuerst; two honorary sons: Davey Haskill and Steve Prahl; grandchildren: Ryan (Kellie) Linzner, Julianna Matthews, Tiffany (Luke) Maurer, Keith Gainforth, Kayla (Andy) Maurer, Ethan (Brittney) Gainforth, Mitchell (Vera) Gainforth, Seth Gainforth, Abby Fuerst, Maddy Fuerst, Emily Fuerst and Piper Fuerst; great-grandchildren: Nash and Noah Matthews, Sawyer and Sydnie Linzner, Lincoln Maurer and Aleksandr Gainforth.
Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2017, from 2-8 p.m. at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing.
The funeral will be Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Wisner United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at the church at 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Burial will take place privately at Hickory Island Cemetery in Akron Twp.
Memorial donations may be given to Camp Fishtails or Wisner United Methodist Church.
