Raymond (Ray) M. Cobb of Vassar, age 83, passed away early Saturday morning August 12, 2017 while at the U of M Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
Ray was the son of the late Tyrus (Ty) W. and Josephine (Haines) Cobb and was born April 1, 1934 in Saginaw. Ray served our country in the U. S. Navy. On September 4, 1970, Ray married Sharon Weitzel and together they have celebrated 46 years of marriage. Sharon and Ray have a cabin on Tawas Lake where Ray spent a lot of time fishing; Ray loved to fish no matter where or what lake. He retired from Flint Truck and Bus of General Motors in 1996 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar where he served the church as an Elder, ushered and assisted in counting money when needed, and helped wherever and whenever the church needed.
Ray leaves his wife, Sharon; three children, Mark and Rebecca Cobb, Brian and Kimberly Cobb, and Jodi and Kevin Denno; 11 grandchildren, Amberle, Shannon, Brianna, Caleigh, Lindsey, Kylinn, Thomas, Carson, Luke, Kennedy and Abbi; two great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Jerry and Ann Cobb; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.
The Cobb family has honored Ray’s request and cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Ray’s life on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Vassar. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the services. Pastor Plocher of St. Luke’s will deliver the eulogy and message. A private family service will be held to bury Raymond’s urn at the Floral Gardens Cemetery in Bay City. Hanlin Funeral Home has been assisting the Cobb family.
