Appalled at infringing government’s attitude

Editor, Advertiser:

Why did we allow our nation to drift so far from the United States Constitution? I was appalled when I read in the American Free Press that our governor of Michigan vetoed SB 59 on the afternoon of Dec. 18. The bill sponsored by Sen. Mike Green (R) would permit after they received the proper training, the right to carry firearms to protect the citizens in public places.

Today, America has turned her back on our God and our Constitution. When our founding fathers wrote the Constitution, it wasn’t written by fools, but by God-fearing, Bible-believing patriotic men who took their orders from our God. They wrote the Constitution after they received God’s law. I believe that was what inspired them.

The 2nd Amendment makes it clear: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

I wonder if Gov. Rick Snyder even reads the US Constitution? What part of “shall not be infringed” does he not understand? I wonder how many lives were spared when Florida relaxed gun laws and the crime rate dropped. How many shooting massacres would we avoid if the shooter thought that someone would shoot back?

When the atheists were offended and took prayer out of the public school system, that’s when the trouble started. I would like to end my letter with a scripture I found in the King James version of the Bible, II Chron. 7;14, “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face: then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their son, and will heal their land.”

As ever,

Larry Phillips
