So there have been rumblings among some people that USA used a press clipping about Reese 'dissin' (as the kids say) the Patriots in talking about the Regionals and dismissing the notion that USA was in the GTW champs district.
USA beat the Rockets, 9-3, (story here) to advance in the district semis and now they are on the brink of a clash with last's year's D4 champ Allen Park-Cabrini.
I guess I owe the Pats a "Your Welcome".
Yup, it was my paper that incided the "wrath and fury" of the Pats on Reese.
Actually, it wasn't my words, but Reese pitcher Abbey Harrington from a story that ran on May 3. Unfortunately the story in full isn't on our website (somehow the May 3rd paper's info never was published on-line). So I will quote her here:
"We are thinking about Regionals more now. We just need to keep our bats going and keep our eyes on the prize."
Really? That's it? That sets off a firestorm?
Talking about reading into something.
The story was written after the Rockets swept Cass City to move to 17-1 and 6-0 in the GTW. Those wins essentially sealed the GTW title as Reese only had Laker and Bad Axe left. The story centered on how the goals of the Rockets had changed from the start of the season to that point (early May) because they had goals of beating USA (did it), win the GTW (did it) and try to win the district.
After seeing themselves on top, all the Rockets wanted to do was set the bar higher. It had nothing in the slightest about ignoring USA.
But hey, it got you here...use it.
I hear AP-Cabrini said bad stuff about your cat. Now sick'em! :)
