Have you seen this notion from NHL writters that the playoffs are unfair now?
Read THIS and THIS.
They say too many team have "winning records" now and some of the "good teams" are missing the playoffs.
Last time I looked, the top 8 in each conference still got in.
They take a team like Edmonton or Chicago and say they deserve a playoff spot because they had more wins or losses.
Did they miss the fact that the third number in the W-L-OTL line is Overtime LOSSES? Add those losses to the 'L' catagory and Edmonton (41-32-9) finished with 41 losses for a .500 record and the Hawks (40-34-8) were under .500.
How do those teams deserve the playoffs?
Sure, Carolina won more than they lost...so what! They didn't finish ahead of eight other teams, too bad. Enjoy the draft.
More proof that I am a Yooper, and yes...hockey IS that important to me.

Bossick,
I like the Pairwise idea...I should add you in on the conversation my Yooper buddies and I have been having through e-mail. One of my freinds came up with a Premiership idea...let everyone play for a chance at the Stanley Cup...interesting idea, but I don't agree.
But imagine an AHL contest, the embattled Blackhawks hosting the Wolves, or the Red Wings vs. the upstart Flint Generals! :)

Right on. Apparently those writers don't know the blade from the butt on a stick.
Maybe they should look into the Pairwise stuff, though. I think most college hockey fans are still wondering how Wisconsin got in over Minnesota State.
