24 weeks and counting...

So far, I have written two columns in the Advertiser about my pregnancy.

I realize not everyone is interested.

But for those that are interested, I am going to start a blog about my expected bundle of joy. I’m calling it, “The biggest little lesson.”

Truly, it is the biggest “little” lesson in my life, so far. I’ve learned more about myself and my husband than I ever knew... and still, together, we continue to learn from this new little person every single day.

As of Saturday, I am 24 weeks along and still on track for my July 12 due date (give or take a few days).

Unprepared for reality

I thought pregnancy was going to be fun - and in many aspects it is. However, I didn’t realize the amount of stress that goes along with each new week and each doctor’s appointment.

If I read something bad on the Internet, I am convinced I have that problem, too.

If I don’t eat enough protein in one day, I am convinced I am depriving my child.

If I don’t drink enough water, I am convinced I am going to go into early labor.

These are my daily freak-outs, among many, many others. What I have come to realize is that I am a constant worrier, not really pessimistic, but just worried 24/7.

The goal

I am really trying to enjoy pregnancy. In fact, I am making a goal to sit back several times each day and just be - feel her kick, wonder what she is doing and envision holding her on the day she’s born.

After doing that, I realize how amazing pregnancy really is and how thankful I am for this time in my life. Despite the stress, it’s truly a gift.

I’m trying... really, I am

I’m quite sure I have driven my husband insane with the, “do you think the baby will...?” questions. But he’s a good sport. Well, he tries.

He’ll be the subject of a future blog entry.

Until then...

I can't believe you're pregnant! I'm so excited for you guys! You know, I think it's really brave of you to share your journey with us. You may not think that we, the readers/subscribers care - but, I think it's a wonderful example of how accessible you are, and a great testament to the direction the Tuscola County Advertiser is moving in. Charles and I wish you both (actually, the three of you, yay!) the best and offer our most sincere congratulations.
