The Tuscola County Advertiser recently welcomed a new summer intern to the staff. Courtney Rabideau, 19, of Cass City was selected from a large pool of local and statewide candidates for the position. “We’re very excited to have Courtney working with us,” said Amy Joles, Advertiser editor. “She’s very energetic and learning the ropes of reporting very quickly.” Rabideau will begin her sophomore year at the University of Michigan in September where she will continue her studies in English and Communications. “The Advertiser is a great place to get my feet wet,” said Rabideau. “especially in an area that I love and am familiar with.” While living in Ann Arbor for her first year at the U of M, Rabideau worked part-time for The Michigan Daily, the campus newspaper, where she edited with the Copy Desk and its staff. Rabideau graduated from Cass City High School in 2007, where she participated in Future Youth Involvement, Forensics, National Honor Society and was President of the Student Body. She also played basketball, volleyball and softball and graduated as one of the valedictorians. This summer, Rabideau will also work at the Helen Stevens Memorial Pool in Cass City and counsel at Bay Shore sports camps in Sebewaing. As an Advertiser intern, Rabideau will do a variety of feature and news stories around the county. She will also be attending and covering many Tuscola County festivals, along with the Tuscola County Fair. To share story ideas with Rabideau, call (989) 673-3181 or e-mail her at rabideau@tcadvertiser.com.
