KENNETH J. BLASIUS Caro Passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 in Lady Lake, FL, at the age of 86. He was born on Feb. 24, 1923 in Caro to the late Clarence and Ella (Heggie/Campbell) Blasius. Ken was a lifelong resident of Caro, graduating from Caro High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, assigned to 350th AAF Base Unit as an airplane and engine mechanic. On Sept. 5, 1942 he was united in marriage to the former Betty McLaughlin at the Caro United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on Nov. 6, 1993. He had been employed for 10 years with New York Central Railroad and then as Grounds Superintendent at the Caro Regional Center until his retirement. Ken spent many winters in Florida and was a member of Caro United Methodist Church, a 60-year member of Theron W. Atwood Sr. American Legion Post #7 and Caro Exchange Club, having served in offices of each. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and good times with family and friends. He is survived by three sons, one daughter and his companion, James (Thelma) Blasius of Dover, DE, Douglas (Robyn) Blasius of Caro, Timothy (Louise) Blasius of Port Sanilac, Dawn (Dennis) Ewald of Caro and Donna Chapin of Caro; eight grandchildren, Tamara Morris of Dover, DE, Scott (Laura) Blasius of Sully, IA, Mark (Amy) Blasius of Asheville, NC, Corey (Jessica) Miller of Berkley, Melony Blasius of Saginaw, Timothy Blasius of Ann Arbor, Ryan Blasius of Caro and Amanda Ewald of Caro; four great-grandchildren, Drew and Katie Morris and Austin and Amber Miller; his siblings, Carlton Blasius of Fort Wayne, IN and Wilma (John) Eshenour of Zephyrhills, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by the remainder of his siblings, Bonnie Gilkey, Alta Sayre, Olive Bremer, Mildred Scott, Leroy Blasius and Vincent Blasius. Cremation took place in Florida. A memorial service will be held at Collon Funeral Home of Caro on Friday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Military honors will be afforded by the American Legion and the U.S. Army. Following cremation, burial will be in Wahjamega Cemetery. Ken’s grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be at Collon Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Theron W.
