Passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at his home, at the age of 84. Henry was born in Corbin, KY on Sept. 20, 1925, the son of Wil and Easter (Jones) Eaton. He married Anita Helen Simonton on Jan. 21, 1946 in Tennessee. She passed away on March 22, 2003. He had resided in St. Louis for the last 38 years. Henry was a very hard worker his whole life, and retired in 1974 from Wonder Bread Bakery. He was also a self-employed auto mechanic for many years. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed snowmobiling, farming, gardening, beekeeping and loved to cook. Henry was a firm believer that his family was the most important thing to him. He was a life member of the DAV, member of the St. Louis VFW Post 3055, NRA and member of the American Legion. He was a U.S. Army WWII vet, and earned two purple hearts. He was a member of Floyd Church of God in Midland. Henry is survived by five daughters, Sharon Simonton of Rapid City, SD, Barbara and Donald Hays of Midland, Bonnie and Lonny Gonzalas of Tiger, GA, Deborah and Dave Herring of West Palm Beach, FL, Diane and Marvin Humphrey of St. Louis, MI; 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anita; grandson, Scott Simonton; five brothers and two sisters. Funeral service was held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel on Friday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. Pastor Jeff Eckman officiated. Burial took place at Jasper Township Cemetery in Midland County. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel of St. Louis assisted the family with the arrangements.
