Died Monday morning, Oct. 19, 2009, surrounded by family at her home after an extended battle with cancer, at the age of 64. She was born June 27, 1945 in Flint, daughter of Beatrice H. (Grenier) Allen and the late Francis “Mickey” Allen. Carol was a 1963 graduate of Millington High School. She was the Practice Manager at the Women’s Medical Center before retiring April 2009 due to ill health. Surviving Carol are her two sons, Anthony P. Gonda of Baltimore, MD and Loren Todd Gonda of Vassar; two grandchildren, Heather N. Gonda of Kalamazoo and Anthony C. Gonda of Vassar; her mother, Beatrice Allen of Caro; one brother, Allen (Anna) Allen; four stepchildren, James (Kris) Goka of Reese, Douglas (Anna) Goka of Saginaw, Kelly (Rich) McManus of Chevy Chase, MD and Sarah (Kevin) Brabant of St. Charles and many other friends and family. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and her sisters, Mildred Corner and Linda Walther. Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 from Midland Christian Church, 1264 E. Isabella Rd., Midland. Pastor Gregory Pratt will officiate, with burial in Lee Township Cemetery. Carol’s family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from noon until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home of Midland assisted the family with the arrangements.
