MARY JANE EMERSON

Passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at the age of 79. Mary Jane was born in Mayville on Dec. 8, 1929 to Mark and Florence Colhoun. She was raised in the Silverwood and Lapeer areas. She also was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mayville. In 1979, Mary Jane and her husband moved to South Padre Island, TX, where they enjoyed the warmer climate and the beach. They resided there for 15 years until moving to Port Isabel, TX, where they currently lived. Mary Jane also loved to fish and collect seashells. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jim Emerson of Port Isabel, TX; son, John Emerson and wife, Flora of Junction City, KS; daughter, Karen Briggs and husband, Marvin of Tawas City; sister, Jean Walker of Mio; grandchildren, James Emerson, Mark Emerson, Gared Briggs, Chad Briggs, Tara Adamczak and husband, Mike and Justin Briggs; great-grandchildren, Darion Briggs, Jade Briggs, Sawyer Briggs, Chelsea Adamczak, Haley Adamczak, Gabby Adamczak, Austin Briggs, Jeffrey Sheriky and Ava Briggs and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Rich Cemetery in Mayville. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen, TX assisted the family with the arrangements.
