DOUGLAS W. COMMENT Gagetown Passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 28, 2009, at the age of 94. He was born in Gagetown on May 16, 1915, a son of William and Mabel (Dickson) Comment. On June 5, 1945 he married Vernita O’Rourke. She preceded him in death May 3, 2003. Doug was a lifelong member of St. Agatha’s Catholic Church and was an active lector and eucharistic minister. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Caro and owned and operated Comment’s Garage in Gagetown for more than 40 years, taking great pride in his work and maintained the buses for the Owen-Gage School District. He was a volunteer with the Elmwood Township Fire Department and superintendent of the St. Agatha Cemetery for 25 years. Surviving are his children, James (Betty) Comment of Unionville, Michael (Marie) Comment of Export, PA and SuAnn Comment, living in Essexville; grandchildren, Kimberly (Dorian) Richardson, Laura (Ed) Gruzwalski, Marsha (Shawn) Winter and Matthew (Lyndsey) Comment and a brother, Raymond of Marlette. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary Jean in 1969; brothers, Eugene and Vincent and a sister, Madelyn McEachin. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m.. Saturday, Oct. 31 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, with Fr. Donald Eppenbrock and Sr. Dorothy Ann Blasko officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elmwood Township Fire Department or St. Agatha Cemetery Fund. Gagetown Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
