Died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw, at the age of 101. Marie was born April 16, 1908 in Akron, the daughter of John and Ida (Gustafson) Gilbert. She attended Akron High School, graduating in 1926. She then attended Grace Hospital Nurses School for three years, graduating as a Registered Nurse. She married Richard G. Ramsden on April 16, 1930 in Detroit. He predeceased her on July 31, 1980. She worked at Saginaw General Hospital for several years before retiring in 1973. Marie was a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Tuscola County. In her free time, Marie could be found playing euchre, bridge, sewing and spending time with her family. Marie leaves to cherish her memory a son, Dick (Irene) Ramsden; daughter, Dolores (Don) Wolverton; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Miriam Deming; brother, Jack Gilbert and many nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters, Grace and Frances. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home, Fairgrove with burial to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Marie’s family will receive friends on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
