RALPH R. HORNING Millington Passed from our world into God’s Kingdom early Saturday morning, June 27, 2009 while at Homewood Valley Manor in Flint, at the age of 87. Ralph R. Horning was born to Clifford and Leola (Frost) Hornung in Topeka, KS on Nov. 21, 1921. On July 8, 1944, Ralph married Loretta Laycock and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before Loretta passed into God’s Kingdom in 2002. Ralph retired from Buick Motor Division of General Motors in 1978 after 35 years of employment. As a young man, Ralph served our country at home during the war as a member of the CCC’s in Washington State where he served on the Forest Fire Division. He also served the State of Michigan in the Michigan Troops, today known as the Michigan National Guard. Ralph was also a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as the first president of the PTL. Ralph leaves his children, Rick and Imelda Horning, Dee and Jerry Baker, Kay Horning; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Horning; two daughters-in-law, Rosie Horning and Betty Chambal, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ralph was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary Horning and Ken Chambal and a great-grandson, Kyle R. Horning. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington. Ralph will be laid to rest in the Millington Twp. Cemetery.
