1919 - 2008
Passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Cartwright Care Center in Saginaw, following a brief illness, at the age of 89. Walt was born April 18, 1919 in Caro, son of the late Michael and Victoria (Jakupczyk) Albin. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1938, and was a lifelong area resident.
Walt was united in marriage with the former Mariellen R. Ulbrich on Sept. 27, 1941 in Caro. She preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 2005, after more than 64 years of marriage.
Walt was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and a 4th Degree member and Grand Knight from 1981-1983 of the Knights of Columbus Council #3224 in Caro. For more than 18 years, Walt was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1984.
Walt was a man of many talents and was proud of the home he built where he and Mariellen would raise their family, and where he had a complete tool barn in which he could build or repair almost anything. Beyond his building skills, Walt enjoyed boating, working in his garden, reading and being with his family, friends and dancing the Polka with his wife.
Surviving are five children and their spouses, Patricia Radcliffe of Caro, Edward and Sherry Albin of Peyton, CO, Linda and Steven Myers of St. Johns, Charles and Virginia Albin of St. Joseph, Janis and Christopher Pinter of Kawkawlin; five grandchildren and their spouses, Rochelle and Jerry Connor of South Milwaukee, WI, Daniel and Lisa Radcliffe of Guam, Gregory Albin of Florida, Kelly Albin of Fort Worth, TX, Kimberly and Steve Drake of Clovis, CA; three great-grandchildren, Erin Shea Connor, Brittany and Ashley Drake; two brothers and their spouses, Anthony and Anna Albin of Caro, John and Judy Albin of Middleburg, KY and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Walt was preceded in death by four brothers, Braunislaus, Joseph, Chester and Leonard Albin.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. John Ladd officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Caro.
