Kay Stebbins, Saginaw, formerly of Caro

1936 - 2008

Went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2008 at her home, at the age of 71. She was born Sept. 12, 1936 in Petoskey to the late Walter B. and Frances “Jean” (Taylor) Mawdesley.

Kay lived most of her life in Caro and was a 1954 Caro High School graduate. She married Rev. Allen Stebbins on July 14, 1956 in Caro, whom she met while they were attending Grand Rapids Baptist Theological Seminary.

With the exception of approximately 15 years, she spent much of her life in Caro until moving to Saginaw. She enjoyed crafts and was involved, to the extent of her capabilities, in church activities and raising her family.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. Allen Stebbins; her children, Marc Stebbins of Brethern and Scott (Gayle) Stebbins of Grand Rapids; 14 grandchildren, Ashley, Travis, Chelsea, Rebekah, Naomi, Elisha, Marissa, Noah, Hailey, Shanna, Bethany, Nicholas, Nathan and Austin; two sisters, Lynn Williams of Richmond and Sue (Ron) Cassie of Menomonee Falls, WI; many nieces and nephews, as well as two aunts, Hartie Mawdesley of Frankenmuth and Maxine Beardsley of Lapeer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gerry Williams and the remainder of her aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held at Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, July 3 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Pat Neff officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will be at Collon Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m.
