TUSCOLA COUNTY — According to Tuscola County Clerk Margie White-Cormier, there will be some contested seats and a ballot proposal during the Tuesday, Sept. 15 village elections.
AKRON — In the Village of Akron, two newcomers, Zygmunt P. Dworzecki and Robert Sode, are running for village president.
Veteran council member Mike Krause did not seek re-election.
Those running for the three trustee seats are: incumbents Sherry L. Duke, Carol E. Dworzecki, Juanita Hollister, and newcomers Richard Klatt and Michael Sode.
CARO — In the village of Caro, incumbent Thomas Striffler is running unopposed for village president.
Those running for the three trustee seats are: incumbents Joseph L. Greene, Bernard Nelson, and Rick Lipan, as well as newcomer Charlotte M. Kish, who used to be on the council.
CASS CITY — In the village of Cass City, incumbent Carl A. Palmateer is running for village president.
Those running for the three trustee seats are: incumbent Donald B. Richards and Marilyn Biefer, and newcomer Kevin L. Israelson.
Dwight Thabet did not seek re-election.
KINGSTON — In the village of Kingston, Robin LaFonda, who has served as a trustee, is running for village president.
Paul Lalko did not seek re-election.
Those running for the two trustee seats are: Cory James Skinner and Roger Warrington.
MAYVILLE — In the village of Mayville, there are five candidates running for three trustee seats, and there will be a request on the ballot to levy a new millage.
Those running for trustee are: incumbents Cecillia C. Kapcia, Dean Todd Mason, Cheryl J. Peche. Also running are Wanda Topham, who previously served on the council, and newcomer Anthony J. Windham.
The ballot issue requests approval to levy new 2 mills for 10 years for street repair and maintenance, explained village Clerk James Welke.
If approved, the millage would generate about $34,005 the first year.
HURON COUNTY
In the Tuscola County Advertiser’s coverage area, there will be an election in the village of Owendale.
OWENDALE — In the village of Owendale, incumbent Walter Howard is seeking re-election as president.
Those running for the three trustee seats are incumbents Richard Glidden, Jerry Radabaugh, Steve Story, and newcomer Bryan Baker.
The polls will be open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
