MILLINGTON — Millington and EPBP met up under the lights Monday night for first round district action on the Cardinals’ Alumni Field.
However, Millington would come away empty handed as they were shut out by the Lakers, 2-0.
“I was very happy with our effort tonight,” Millington head coach Bryan Bassett said. “We left it all on the field tonight, and that was all I asked of these guys.”
However, this was not the first time these two schools collided this season. And after trailing 1-0 at the half, Bassett was pleased with where his team was sitting, considering the result of their last meeting with EPBP.
Earlier this season, we lost to Lakers 6-0. But, we were also missing some key players with injuries,” Bassett said. “We played a lot better tonight.”
Cardinals goalkeeper Dustin Brewer had 11 saves in net, but the Lakers outshot Millington 13-5 on the night.
Tyler Yoder and Brad Feger each scored a goal for EPBP. The Lakers now advance to take on Bad Axe on Wednesday (today).
