AKRON — Akron Village residents are once again wallowing in water woes.
It’s back to boiling water because e.coli bacteria has been found again this week.
On Oct. 24, the DEQ declared the Akron Village water system was clear and could be used again after a week of having to boil water before it could be used, but the same problem was detected again.
“Everything was cleaned after the last time and passed inspection,” said DPW Superintendent Stephan Wilding. “Maybe it’s residual... we just don’t know at this point.”
Until further notice, residents need to boil all water, and to let it continue to boil for one minute after it starts to boil. Then, it can be cooled for use or bottling because boiling kills bacteria and other organisms.
Until the boil alert is suspended, either boiled or bottled water needs to be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, food preparation and brushing teeth.
