SEBEWAING — No one is too young or too old to lend a helping hand.
Two Unionville-Sebewaing Area School District fourth grade students recently spearheaded an effort to help the Cass River Pet Friendz.
According to elementary principal Libby Treiber, Sara Reinhardt and Skylar Gremel were the ones who started the campaign to help the animal rescue group that is based in Caro.
The girls, with the help of the entire school, were able to raise more than $567.
Besides the money, they also collected donations of food and blankets.
As an incentive, a challenge was made to each classroom to see who could raise the most money.
Stacy Querback’s first grade class won. They raised more than $100, and were treated to a pizza party for their efforts.
Susan Green, who is a member of the Cass River Pet Friendz, accepted the donation, and while she was at the school she gave a lesson on pet care and the importance of spaying or neutering animals.
Reinhardt is the daughter of Marc and Jodi Reinhardt of Sebewaing, and Gremel is the daughter of Amy Gangler and Joel Gremel of Sebewaing.
