MILLINGTON TOWNSHIP — Three people were injured Saturday in a two-car collision at the intersection of Sheridan and Millington Roads.
The accident occurred around 1 p.m. when Maureen Leslie, 65, of South Haven failed to stop at a stop sign at Millington Road. Leslie was southbound on Sheridan when she collided with an eastbound 2006 Blazer being driven by 15-year-old Cody Brown of Fostoria. Passengers in his car were Brown’s mother Valeria Brown, 47, of Millington and Amanda Wilkinson, 17.
Valeria Brown was not injured. Leslie, Cody Brown and Wilkinson were transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan in Saginaw by Flight Care helicopter and by Life Net helicopter. According to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Department, the seriousness of their injuries remains unknown at this time.
In 2005, a Millington couple died at that intersection when their southbound vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign and struck an eastbound vehicle. At that time, questions were raised about the visibility of the stop sign.
Millington Township Supervisor Robert Worth says he wants to discuss the problems at that intersection with county officials.
