BREAKING: Tanker Truck Spills 3,000 Gallons of Gas on M-24

In northern Lapeer County (Deerfield/North Branch), a gasoline tanker truck has spilled 3,000 gallons of gasoline at a gas station located at M-24 and Burnside Road.

At this time, there is no need for evacuations.

An environmental clean-up agency has been called.

Please note, with M-24 closed between Burnside Road and Barnes Lake Roads, officials are asking residents to seek an alternate route of travel.

UPDATE: The environmental clean-up crew was expected on scene at approximately 12:30PM. Clean up could take several hours.

Employees of the gas station and fast food restaurant have been evacuated. No other evacuations at this time.

M-24 will remain closed until clean up is completed.
