Felony court news for 8/15/09.

District Court:

-Week of Aug. 10-

Dustin Alan-James Harp, 17, Gagetown, is charged with arson - real property; malicious destruction of a building, less than $200; malicious destruction of property, less than $200. Pretrial is set for Aug. 17 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 24.

Derek Wayne Damm, 17, Snover, is charged with weapons - dangerous weapon - possession; weapons - carrying concealed; assault with a dangerous weapon; police officer - assaulting/resisting/obstructing; alcohol - purchase/consumption/possession by minor. Pretrial was Aug. 10 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 17.

Michael Thomas Chopp Jr., 18, Reese, is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, less than murder; domestic violence - aggravated, second offense. Pretrial is set for Aug. 17 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 24.

Frank Bruce Bellizio, 21, Gagetown, is charged with child - accosting for immoral purposes. Pretrial is set for Aug. 17 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 24. In a separate case, he is charged with weapons -firearms - possession by felon; weapons - felony firearm; controlled substance - possession of marijuana. Pretrial was Aug. 10 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 17.

Todd David Hutchinson, 37, Caro, is charged with operating while intoxicated, third offense; operating - violation of license restrictions. Pretrial is set for Aug. 17 and preliminary exam is set for Aug. 24.

Circuit Court:

Amanda Marie Plain, 28, Caro, pleaded guilty to controlled substance - possession of non-narcotic, second offense, habitual offender, second. In a separate case, she pleaded no contest to assault with a dangerous weapon, habitual offender, second. In a separate case, she pleaded guilty to license documents/plates - forgery, habitual offender, second. Sentence date to be set in all three cases.

Shawn Patrick Jefferson, 47, Vassar, pleaded guilty to two counts of controlled substance - delivery/manufacturing marijuana, second offense, habitual offender, fourth; controlled substance - possession of marijuana, second offense. Sentence date to be set.

Joseph Louis Moralez III, 36, Kingston, pleaded no contest to child abuse, second degree; child abuse - attempted, third degree. Sentence date to be set.

Jeremie Erwin Hecht, 21, Vassar, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault). Sentence date to be set.

Aleasha Renee Edwards, 24, Caro, was sentenced to 12 months delayed for false report of a felony. She was ordered to pay $728 in costs and fines.

Melinda Marie Newsome, 26, Akron, was sentenced to 270 days with 33 days credit, 270 days deferred, 18 months probation for operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury; 93 days with 33 days credit for police officer - assaulting/resisting/obstructing. She was ordered to pay $2,681 in costs and fines.

Clinton Michael Peck, 20, Vassar, pleaded guilty to uttering and publishing; forgery. Sentence date to be set.

Kenneth Dale Schultz, 47, Vassar, was sentenced to 2-15 years for operating while intoxicated, third offense. He was ordered to pay $1,223 in costs and fines.

Jason James Periso, 24, Cass City, was sentenced to 6 months - 6 years for larceny in a building. He was ordered to pay $128 in costs and fines. In a separate case, he was sentenced to 6 months - 3 years for police officer - assaulting/resisting/obstructing. He was ordered to pay $128 in costs and fines.

David Bentley Simpson, 48, Mayville, was sentenced to 12 months delayed for interfering with electronic communications. He was ordered to pay $1,981 in costs and fines.

Rita Kathleen Stevens, 56, Kingston, pleaded not guilty to witness - bribing/intimidating/interfering. Pretrial to be set.

Michael James Stevens Jr., 35, Cass City, pleaded not guilty to witness - bribing/intimidating/interfering. Pretrial to be set.
